Have you ever wanted to be an illustrator or to create images for story/chapter books? We will start by reviewing the major literary elements and see how to connect the ideas with story illustrations. Students will choose two of their most favorite stories and design and then create a three-dimensional image that includes all of the literary elements of each story. Be sure to bring along two books (one of each: fiction and nonfiction) to use during the session and please make sure your name is somewhere on the book. Students will also need two shoeboxes with lids, any size will do.

One of the most populate elective classes in the high school, Intro to CADD, is now being offered to middle school students in a condensed form during the summer. This fun and challenging course will allow students to learn introductory skills in sketching, rendering and drafting as well as architectural and engineering drawing on CADD (computer aided drafting & design). Students will be introduced to the field of Engineering by drawing basic parts on AutoCADD and architectural drawing where students will draw a basic floor plans and elevation drawings for a small one story house on Chief Architect. Students will also create a technical rendering and a vinyl art project such as a decal, magnet or tee shirt. The price of this course reflects a three hour session. This course will only be open to students entering the 7th, 8th or 9th grades and will be held at L-S High School. Students will meet the instructor each day at HH.
